Baby Names

Now that we know what "it" is going to be (a cute little girl) Seth and I have started to think about names. This is a pretty serious topic when you think about it! this is a name that is going to be with them on earth, it is going to be what they classmates call them, their co workers, their cousins , their nieces and nephews, their friends... So Seth and I have been thinking of different names. If you ask Seth he thinks I come up with strange and bizarre names. But to me they are unique. We decided we didn't want to name the first with an S because then I would feel the rest would be S-something. And I didn't want to name one with M because I am not really wild about the double M sound. So we have been thinking of a cute little girl name that will mature with her and will be a professional adult name. I don't want to call her Bambi, because she will grow up to be a night life entertainer. Although we are in the beginning stages of the baby name process We have three names we have agreed on.

Kiley
Kaila (Not Kayla, by Ky-lah)
Alicia

Any input would be greatly appreciated. I am always nervous to share names with people because I was in love with the name Lydia, and then a family I know knew a song about a tattooed freak named Lydia, so it killed the name for me (PS I still love the name)

I am sure I will think of different names along the way but right now that is what we have down on paper to review.

It's a girl!

Seth and I went to the hospital to get our 20 week ultrasound on our little baby, and found out we are having a baby girl! Along with that good news she also indicated to me that I was a week farther than I thought was.... YAY one less week of being pregnant! Right now our due date it still set for Sept. 11 but she reminded us that they baby will come when it is good and ready.

I really thought it was going to be a boy, so when she told us it looks like a girl we were a little shocked... SO we had her check again. And yet again she responded, it is a girl!It is surreal seeing a baby inside of me, moving. In part of the ultrasound she was kicking and I couldn't feel a thing.

Seth is SO excited! Sometimes I think he can't wait and is more excited than me! I love seeing his face light up when we talk about her. He is going to be such a great dad and I am so blessed to have him.

I finished school yesterday (still have finals and a couple more projects) but when I left my classrooms it was a little sad, but now I get to go into baby mode and plan for our little girl.

I wonder what it could be!

So tomorrow Seth and I head down to the baby doctor and hopefully find out what baby McLeod is. I am really hoping our baby isn't shy and gives a good look! So many people at school are shocked I want to know what it is, they liked the suprise at the 9 month mark. I am not that patient, and 5 months will be just as big of a suprise.

One girl in school today gave me the cutest gift. I was talking to her the last couple weeks, (she has three kids herself) and I was telling her how I wanted to decorate the little boys room if we have a boy. I love cows, I think they are beautiful animals and very tranquil. So if I have a little boy we are going to decorate the room in a farm/barn theme. So the girl at school gave be a little stuffed cow and a farm animal board book. That was so sweet of her, I didn't even know what to say. I am very excited to put it in the room if it is a boy.

If it is a girl I was thinking a nursery rhyme themed room, but that is still up in the air. It is weird I really wanted a girl for the longest time, but I just felt like it was a boy. Then about a week ago I have gotten really excited thinking it is a boy. I will be happy with either sex, they are blessings from Heavenly Father. And Seth and I will love the child unconditionally.

I am getting really excited about this baby thing, I still have days where I can't believe it is happening but all in all I am thrilled. We had a book fair at school this past week and I bought like 17 books. I love children's books and I want to make sure I have a wonderful children's library in my home.

This is my last week of school and then all I have is finals. I am so ready to be done, I will miss my school friends, but I am excited to be home. I think my husband is going to be happy also... he might get home cooked meals more often then.

One other piece of big news, my childhood best friend from NJ just got engaged recently, I am so excited for her and her fiance. She is a wonderful person and I really like the guy! Hip Hip Hooray for Weddings!

Shaving of Hero!

So Seth and I have been talking about shaving our dog for a little while. We don't really like hair all over our house and Hero (our little puppy dog) likes to give us a lot! So this weekend we took the electric razor out, and zzzippp! Now that he is shaved he looks like a siamese cat, so I call him Our Little Siamese Dog! I was a little nervous about shaving him, because I thought he would freak out but he did awesome! He is scared of everything else, water, broom, vaccuum, just to name a few. So here are some before and after pictures of Hero! I can't figure out how to get rid of the scary eye look, but I promise our doggy does not have scare glowing eyes!

School, Baby, Life!

So school is coming to an end, and although I am so happy that it is almost finished, I am a little sad. I have gone to KSU since fall of '06 and have made some great friends. I have taken many classes with the same people and we have moved through the program together. This coming fall semester I was suppose to TOSS (this is the semester before student teaching but very similar to student teaching). I was going to be graduating next spring (the light at the end of the tunnel was near!!!).
As school is wrapping up this semester I realize there are many people I have met and worked with that I won't see again because they will be tossing and I will be home. Don't get me wrong I am excited about my break from school, and having a baby is a complete blessing but I wanted that diploma next spring so bad.
I feel as though my life is being put on hold, I know this sound a bit selfish, and I am very grateful I don't have to go back to a job or have to raise this baby alone, but I definitely do not feel ready for such a big responsibility. I love my family and I am so excited to bring a baby into our home and into the Gospel.
I am looking forward to being a home mom. My other goals in life are to get my degree in Education by the latest 2010 (I will cart that kid to school if I have to, I will be getting that piece of paper) and then I hopefully want to work for a couple years, in order to get my masters in child development.
I love children, so you would think that I would love being pregnant and having my own, but I just feel over whelmed. I feel I have so much on my plate and I can't finish everything, I just don't know where to start. I know Heavenly Father will not put anything in front of me that I can't handle, and I know he feels confident in Seth and I raising this child...and then here comes my next worry;
I have been going to school for about 5 years for early childhood education. I have looked after children for more than half my life. I love children and want to give them the best in everything (and I am not talking about materialistic things). Now I am not an expert at children by any means but I do understand children more in the developmental aspect than people who have not studied children, and this scares me. I know what I am suppose to do with a child and I know what the child should be able to do, but what if I can't handle my child, what if I mess up, and I don't give them the proper upbringing. Some people say that "ignorance is bliss" now i don't completely agree with that saying, but I do believe that the more you know the more you are accountable for. I feel like I know what is good and what is not, and i feel I need to live up to it and can't make mistakes. I know everyone makes mistakes, we are all human. And I know i need to sit back and enjoy pregnancy and the end of the school year....
Okay now that I have taken some time to vent my worries, I need to get back to my piles of laundry, homework, and life.
