A day at the zoo

Kyla, Owen, my mom, and I went to the zoo in Arizona this past week. This is the 2nd time Kyla has been. We took her when she was younger and she had no emotion or reaction while we were there. Three hours after we returned home all she would say was aminals, aminals, aminals.

This time she was in love, and just wanted to see all of the animals. Her favorite was the pink flamingos. She was determined to see them and every animal we went an saw, she would say "Now go see the flamingos?" Flamingos were our last stop, and she wanted to look at them for 2 minutes and was content. (we bought a postcard with a flamingo on it, just for her)

So as we were going through the zoo we came to the Meer Cats, she told me they look like doggies, and I responded they are meer cats. She waved to them and said "Hi meer cats, I'm Kya, and this is my sippy cup." It was adorable!

We also went and fed giraffes, Owen thought this was pretty cool, I held him while I fed one, and he just stared. Kyla on the other hand wanted to get as far away from them as possible. We would ask her if she wanted to feed them, and her response was, moving the the other direction while saying "I said no thank you, I said no thank you"

Kyla loved the petting zoo, I thought she wouldn't so we haven't gone to one yet, but she did really well. A deer went up to her and licked her face, and she would go up and pet them. Owen had his shorts nibbled on by a goat and my mom was nudged off a bench by a selfish goat who didn't want to share the bench.

Kyla was the true little adventurer for the day, she let a parrot eat an apple out of her hands, and thought it was neat that the parrots landed on out arms. She wanted one to come to her but she wouldn't hold her arms still.

This was the second time Owen went to the zoo (he was three weeks old the first time) and he just took it all in, he wanted to see them animals and even the ones that were harder to spot he would point to. He was such a good boy hanging out in his stroller.

Red Eye Flight

So we just returned home on a red eye from Arizona. We left at 3am GA time and arrived 3am Arizona time, to say the least Kyla and Owen's clocks are going crazy.

Kyla loves flying, she just loves the idea of planes and looking out the window. Not only does she like the flight part of flying but she gets so excited for the train (the track system in ATL airport, that brings you to baggage claim and the other terminals)

Last night while we were walking to the plane (at 11:30 AZ time) Kyla starts waving the everyone we pass, and is so excited to see others with backpacks on also.

We got on the plan and the same flight attendant that helped us clean up last flight was on there and remembered who we were (not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing).

When we arrived in GA Kyla was so excited to see daddy, and I was too. I am glad to be home and I am glad we all made it home.

Oh one last thing, Owen did sleep on this flight, and I will have muscle arms after this because I found he doesn't like his feet pressing on anything while he sleeps so I had to hold him up in the air so his feel would touch. I couldn't use a arm rest to help support him because Kyla's head was on my lap and she would have not been happy with a arm rest on her head. Like I said I am glad we are home.

Made it to AZ with two kids

So I love to travel with my children. I have no problem taking them just myself across country. Oour most recent flight was two night ago from GA to AZ. I thought this could be tricky or be completely fine, but what happened I didn't plan for.

We took off at 9:45 PM, before doing so Owen was almost falling asleep in the stroller, and I was doing a little dance thinking he would sleep the whole way. I get on the plane and the flight attendants inform all of the passengers to make sure they are in the correct seat because it is a full flight. (When I book flights I book the aisle and the window, leaving the middle one open) I am thinking great someone is going to be inbetween us and I will have no open seat. Luckily no one showed up the that middle seat, YAY!!!

So we get situated, Kyla is at the window, I am in the middle, and Owen is on my lap. We take off, and I turn Dora on for Kyla, and start to try to get Owen asleep. He was not going to sleep (he didn't sleep the entire flight, we got into AZ at 2:00 am GA time).

I wrestled Owen for most of the flight, he was quiet but just moving every which way. All he wanted to do is eat and drink, eat and drink, eat and drink. About and hour before we landed I took him to change his diaper, to see if he was restless because of that. While I am in the bathroom changing his diaper the flight attendant started knocking on the door. I open it with a bare bottom boy on the changer, to hear that my daughter is getting sick on the seat. I look back at Owen, pick out into the plane, and tell him I will be right there after the diaper is back on. I come back to find Kyla has gotten sick on the middle seat of our row. She looks up at me and says, "I spit up."

I grab wipes and I start looking around at toys, her clothes, our bags, blankets and amazingly nothing, it (throw up) only hit the leather seat. We wiped it up and cleaned it up, and after Kyla looks at me, and says, "I am all better, no more spit up."

We sit and wrestle the rest of the flight we get off to the stroller and find that my cell phone (which I thought I left in the restroom in ATL Airport) in the storage basket.

All of our luggage arrived, we arrived, and as I am pushing Owen in the stroller out to the car he falls asleep. Go Figure!

We survived! Now hopefully when Friday night rolls around and we fly out at 11:59 pm, I will not loose my cell phone, Kyla will not get sick, and Owen will sleep half of the flight.

On another note the weather is great, the pool is better, and family is awesome!

I am taking a break (obviously)

So I want to be better at writing down little things Kyla and Owen say.

We always ask Kyla, "Do you want me to carry you?" so now she thinks carry is carryyou. So she will say "Carryou me?"

When she drops to the ground she will say "I drop Kya" (she loves talking in third person)

Owen blew me a kiss today with his hand and all. He also is saying "mama", and "yes"

We also think Owen knows what dessert is, yesterday we were at a friend's house for dinner, and asked Kyla if she wanted dessert, and Owen came running mumbling, it was like he was saying he wanted dessert.
